Learning new ways of providing for their family

Hunger is no longer a problem for the Eyasu family because they have enough water to grow crops.

“Before we were livestock people,” Mohammed says, “but now we have learned how to grow food.”

Your gifts towards irrigation systems and agricultural training in dry, dusty northern Ethiopia mean that families like the Eyasus go to bed with full stomachs. There aren’t many better gifts than that.

Giving School-Day update

Your response to our Giving Tuesday

call-to-action was amazing! You smashed our goal of 20 classrooms ($5,000). As of today, we are over $19,500. That’s enough to build and/or equip 78 classrooms with school supplies for students in refugee camps. Thank you

for your support. If you wish to continue supporting classrooms for refugee children, please consider a gift for the “Equip a Classroom”

item in our Gifts from the Heart catalogue this Christmas season!

Road to Kakuma update

We are very happy to announce that the Road to Kakuma

shipment has finally arrived at the Kakuma refugee camp in northwestern Kenya. Supporters like you made the journey possible with over $15,000 in donations over the past few months!Thank you! Many students will receive Learning & Living Kits upon returning to class in January, but for many other residents distribution has already begun. So far 253 children and 264 extremely vulnerable adults have received support. Quilts and blankets are a great comfort to people exposed to a tough and unforgiving climate.

Please click here

for more information. We will provide you with an extensive update on the distribution early in 2015.
